The second round of the AT&T Byron Nelson tees off this morning in McKinney.
Thursday's opening round at TPC Craig Ranch played fast in the hot, dry conditions. UNT grad Sebastian Munoz leads the field with a sizzling 12-under round of 60, four strokes ahead of three players tied for second.
Munoz's 60 is a course record.
North Texas favorites Scottie Scheffler, a Highland Park grad, and Dallas Jesuit product Jordan Spieth are seven off the pace, tied for 12th with eleven others.
SMU alum Austin Smotherman who made his PGA debut at the 2017 Byron Nelson had one of the best shots of the day. On the Par 5 18th, Smotherman holed his third shot from more than 100 yards out carding an Eagle. He finished the day at four-under, tied for 25th place.
Munoz tees off for today's second round at 12:33 p.m. Smotherman's group tees of at 1:50 p.m. but Spieth and Scheffler have an early start, stepping into the tee box at 7:56 a.m. along with the third member of their group, KH Lee who won last year's Byron Nelson.
