Senator John Cornyn is pushing a proposal to completely defund government spending going to Planned Parenthood.
He spoke on the Senate floor in ongoing discussions regarding upcoming reconciliation bills.
Sen. Cornyn spoke of the one-year ban on Medicaid funding for abortion providers in previous legislation.
"Now, here we are approaching the end of that year and this provision will soon expire," Sen. Cornyn said. "
He is calling on Republican colleagues to come together on a third reconciliation bill.
He says the second bill focused on the Department of Homeland Security cannot be the last one of the year.
"Respect for life has always been and always will be a pillar of the conservative movement and the Republican party platform," Sen. Cornyn said. "We are the pro-life party."
