Senator John Cornyn is calling on the FBI to work with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas law enforcement to track down Texas House Democrats who broke quorum over the redistricting process.

"Out-of-state actors have made public comments about protecting the Texas legislators who are currently hiding out of state from any accountability for their actions," Cornyn wrote to the FBI. "I request the FBI's assistance, as federal resources are necessary to locate the out-of-state Texas legislators who are potentially acting in violation of the law."

Some House Democrats, including State Representative Ramon Romero Jr. of Fort Worth say it's worth the price to be arrested and fined while fighting the redistricting.

"That would be a very small price to pay for these Americans that have fought so hard and against the maps that aim directly at Black and brown voices," Rep. Romero said while with other Texas House Democrats speaking in Illinois.

Senator Cornyn is also asking for federal investigators to look into any possibility that lawmakers who fled Texas committed any criminal acts including bribery.

"Governor Abbott and Texas state law enforcement officers are doing what they can within the confines of the law, but federal help may be necessary," he wrote.
