Senator John Cornyn is warning fellow republicans that he has no problem playing hardball on his way out of Capitol Hill.
He has six months left in office following his runoff loss to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and he is already making demands for his vote.
He told Senate Republican Leader John Thune that in order for him to vote for a new immigration spending bill, the White House must release funding for Texas reimbursing the state for border security spending.
Cornyn told Semafor that he is in a position to play more hardball if he has to.
He also told the news outlet that he plans to help republicans outside of Texas headed toward November elections.
