The Senate is expected to come together Friday to make another attempt at reaching an agreement to reopen the government on what will be the third day of the government shutdown.

Senator John Cornyn says republicans are not interested in turning an issue being pushed by democrats into a negotiating tactic to reopen the government.

The issue involves subsidies connected to the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.

"Those expire at the end of December, so we know we're going to need to do this before the end of the year and we're happy to engage in those discussions, but we're not going to do it during a shutdown," Cornyn said. "It doesn't depend on republicans, it depends on democrats coming to their senses,"

If no agreement is reached on Friday, it is likely the Senate will adjourn for the weekend dragging the shutdown into at least early next week.
