Texas Senator John Cornyn has introduced a bill designed to fix some of the problems with the ticketing system for concerts and sporting events.

Cornyn introduced a bill called the "Fans First Act". He says the goal is to increase transparency in ticket sales and to protect people from fake or drastically-overpriced tickets.

It would require ticketing companies to show the total cost of the ticket, including fees when someone first selects a ticket, instead of listing low ticket prices that go up dramatically due to added processing fees at the end of the transaction.

It would also impose civil penalties on resellers engaging in illegal ticket sale practices.

The bill has several co-sponsors in the US Senate, including both Republicans and Democrats.
