Arlington resident, singer B.J. Thomas has gone public with his cancer diagnosis.
A statement on his Facebook and Twitter feeds says: "B.J. Thomas revealed today that his doctors have diagnosed him as having stage four lung cancer. Thomas is receiving treatment in a local health care facility in Texas and is hopeful for a complete recovery."
Now 78, Thomas is best known for his Grammy-winning number one hit "Raindrops Are Falling On My Head" which was part of the soundtrack for the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
Thomas' recording of the song made the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2014.
Thomas was raised in and around Houston but in later years he and his family have made their home in the Interlochen neighborhood of Arlington.
