BURLESON (1080 KRLD)- Police have released information on the six people that were arrested in connection with a rolling gun battle that killed an innocent woman in Burleson over the weekend.

Burleson police say they were first dispatched on a call in reference to a shooting in the NE Wilshire/Hilary area on the evening of Friday, June 24. Upon arrival, officers learned a woman, later identified as 64-year-old Kathryn Bitner Bryan from Arlington, was dead in her car after having been struck by a bullet.

Police learned the shooting that killed the woman stemmed from an illegal drug transaction gone wrong. According to police, Hernandez and Mejia from Mission, Texas were meeting Devaney Sr. and Devaney Jr., as well as Dunlap and Devere to purchase illegal narcotics. After discovering that Hernandez and Mejia were attempting to use counterfeit money to purchase the drugs, a chase ensued and turned into a gun battle in which Hernandez and Mejia became the targets. While Mejia was struck on the leg and was later transported and released from JPS Hospital in Fort Worth, Kathryn Bryan was fatally struck by a single gunshot.

After further investigation and with the aid of surveillance footage, detectives were able to identify the suspects' vehicles. On Saturday morning, Burleson police arrested Devaney Sr. and Devaney Jr. shortly after a short pursuit.

Dever and Dunlap were also arrested later Saturday evening.
