A Texas Historic Landmark in Downtown Dallas could be costly to repair.
The former Texas School Book Depository, owned by Dallas County since the late 1970s, has housed the Sixth Floor Museum on its sixth and seventh floors for several years. The museum has since expanded its offices into the lower floors after county offices vacated the building.
Now, the building is in need of significant repairs. At a recent Dallas County meeting, officials discussed a preliminary repair estimate of $60 million, according to The Dallas Morning News.
In a statement, the museum said it cannot commission a detailed cost assessment until a long-term lease agreement is finalized with the county. Museum officials added that they hope to work with the county to develop a plan moving forward.
