A North Texas social media influencer, Brandi Botello, has launched a viral campaign to get her pet spider monkey, Jorgie Boy, back after police confiscated him following a suspected DWI incident.

She disputes being the driver and has shared her plea on GoFundMe and Instagram, where she has over 40,000 followers.

Botello describes Jorgie Boy as more than just a pet, likening him to her child and expressing deep distress over his removal.

Supporters have rallied around her with the hashtag "Free Jorgie Boy."

The monkey was not injured in the crash but was sent to a wildlife sanctuary by the authorities called Funky Monkey. However, it was found out that Jorgie Boy has a metabolic bone disease caused by poor nutrition, lack of Vitamin D, elevated liver levels, and pancreatic levels.

At 3 years old, he weighed six pounds, less than half of a typical spider monkey, and his bones had tiny fractures. Officials believe he got a diet of fast food and soda, which led to this state. Jorgie Boy is receiving sun therapy twice a day at Funky Monkey Ranch, drinking baby formula and eating pureed baby food, before he starts monkey physical therapy.
