The Southlake-Carroll school board has declined the donation of two posters, one with the official U.S. motto of "In God We Trust" written in Arabic and another in English lettering in the colors of the rainbow - a common symbol of the LGBTQ+ community.
Both posters included an image of the American flag - but were rejected anyway.
The trustees' decision was unpopular with some but was acceptable to others.
Earlier this month, the school district accepted a shipment of "In God We Trust" posters in plain white letters on a blue background with the American flag underneath.
They were donated by a wireless company with reported ties to a conservative political action committee.
