Southlake Police reported an incident early Friday morning. Around an hour later, it was announced that the incident was a vehicle accident involving a wrong-way driver and shots being fired.

Police say a crash in Southlake Friday morning led to a shooting involving an officer. Southlake DPS says Sean Jordon, 19, caused a wrong-way crash on Southlake Boulevard between Carroll and Central at about 9:30 a.m.

"That cash escalated into an altercation, and that altercation escalated into shots being fired," says Southlake DPS Sergeant Brad Uptmore.

"They always say it sounds like fireworks," one man who was nearby says. "You look in your rearview mirror, and oh my my God, people are scattering. Those are gunshots."

Southlake DPS says Jordon grabbed a rifle from his car and started shooting toward the other driver and police. The department says an officer returned fire "in defense of the other driver and himself."

No one was hurt. Jordon was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and Southlake DPS says additional charges may follow.
