As Winter Storm Landon approaches North Texas, the first signs of potential travel ramifications have begun.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines told KRLD that due to the impending storm, it is "proactively suspending" its operations out of Dallas Love Field on Thursday.

"Our Operational Planners are carefully tracking Winter Storm Landon as it moves eastward across the United States and making schedule adjustments as necessarily. Based on the current forecast, we are proactively suspending operations on Thursday from Love Field. We encourage travelers to visit Southwest.com to view their flight status and review the latest travel advisories, which includes flexible travel accommodations" said a statement from the company.

"We encourage travelers to visit Southwest.com to view their flight status and review the latest travel advisories, which includes flexible travel accommodations," the airline said in a written statement.

"For background: Since the situation remains fluid, we are not able to provide accurate flight cancelation numbers as the status of our operations are dependent on local infrastructure and weather conditions."

The National Weather Service has warned that some parts of North Texas could see up to two inches of snowfall later this week.
