Tuesday marks the first day on the job for the new CEO at Dallas-based Southwest Airlines.
Bob Jordan takes over as CEO of the airline after an 18 year run by former CEO Gary Kelly. Jordan has been with the airline for 34 years and describes himself as a people person who likes to get things done.
He says the airline is strong even after a tough two years during the pandemic because the airline continues to meet travelers' basic needs.
"You've got to have the right fare, you've got to have reliability, and then you have to have policies that make sense: The ability to change your ticket, no bag fees, no change fees," Jordan said.
The airline plans on adding over a hundred new planes to the fleet and will be hiring thousands of new employees by the end of the year.
