The San Antonio Spurs opened their season with a commanding 125-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The game marked the NBA debut of Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg, who notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds but went scoreless in the first half.

San Antonio dominated from start to finish, overwhelming Dallas with fast-break scoring and a relentless rebounding edge.

The Mavericks struggled to generate consistent offense, shooting under 40 percent from the field and turning the ball over repeatedly in transition.

The loss gives the Spurs an early edge in the in-state rivalry as both teams begin their Western Conference campaigns. Dallas will look to bounce back Friday when it hosts the Phoenix Suns, while San Antonio travels to face the Denver Nuggets.
