The race for Texas Governor is set after State Representative Gina Hinojosa secured the democratic nomination without having to face a May runoff.

Hinojosa spoke with KRLD's Eric Bushman saying nothing changes going into November.

"My record, and what we are campaigning on, that is a clean slate, fresh start, and building a government that works for Texas," Rep. Hinojosa said. "It resonates with both groups of voters."

Governor Greg Abbott in declaring victory Tuesday night said republicans use common sense when addressing issues in the state.

"We built our own border wall and secured our own border," he said when addressing supporters. "Reduced illegal immigration by 85% into the State of Texas."

Gov. Abbott and Rep. Hinojosa will face off in November in the Midterm General Election.
