Starbucks’ new Snoopy glass cold cup went on sale Tuesday and sold out at many stores the same day, with resale listings reaching $200, Bloomberg and the Seattle Times reported.
The $39.95 cup is the centerpiece of a limited Peanuts collection marking the 60th anniversary of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Starbucks said the glass Snoopy figure wears a pumpkin-colored hat and green scarf and includes a Woodstock straw topper. Customers are limited to two cups each. The collection launched Sept. 15 at participating stores worldwide while supplies last, according to the company.
Shoppers lined up before opening. Some arrived before 3 a.m., social posts and local reports said. “Starbucks Snoopy” ranked among the top U.S. Google searches over 24 hours, Bloomberg reported, citing Google Trends. On StockX, the cup sold for as much as five times retail.
The drop follows last fall’s Bearista glass cup, which also sold out and later appeared on resale sites. Starbucks senior vice president Dana Pellicano called the Snoopy cup “a special addition to the collection, one that is sure to become a cherished keepsake,” in a company announcement.
The 10-item line includes a stainless-steel cold cup with Lucy and Snoopy, a Great Pumpkin tumbler, a ceramic mug, a Snoopy plush in a green apron, a bag charm, a mini tote, and pins. Starbucks also promoted Peanuts-themed drinks, including a Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino and a Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino, Good Morning America reported.
The cup is sold in stores, not through the app, USA Today said. Availability varies by location. North Texas stores were part of the national launch; inventory was already thin Tuesday afternoon at many shops, according to customer reports.
