Stores across north Texas are planning for a return of in-person shopping this holiday season. The traditional post-Thanksgiving season starts today with Black Friday, and stores across the DFW area are offering deals and special events to attract customers.

"While e-commerce will remain important, shoppers are going back to a more traditional in-store shopping experience this holiday shopping season," said Holly Quartaro, Fashion and Lifestyle Director for Galleria Dallas.

The Galleria is kicking off the holiday shopping season with its Christmas tree lighting ceremony, including a hundred local ice skaters and an ice skating Santa. Quartaro is optimistic that the stores will be busy today.

"Despite inflation, the National Retail Federation actually anticipates spending to be up six to eight percent this holiday season, which is over the normal average of four to five percent," she said.
