
A 17-year-old student has died after being stabbed during an "altercation" at a Frisco ISD track meet on Wednesday morning, police say.
The incident happened at Kuykendall Stadium in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane around 10 a.m., Frisco police said.
Police said an altercation between two students led to the stabbing. Police and fire personnel provided lifesaving measures, including CPR and the administration of blood, but the victim, identified as 17-year-old Memorial High School student Austin Metcalf, died after being transported to a local hospital.
Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old student at Centennial High School faces a murder charge in connection to the stabbing. His bond has not yet been set, police said.
"The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain," Frisco police said in a statement. "The department is collaborating with the Frisco Independent School District and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult time."
