Winter is on the way, and a North Texas company has partnered with a non-profit to make sure the kids are ready for the cold weather.

Richardson-based HVAC systems developer Lennox International Inc. is giving away almost 700 coats at an elementary school in their home city. The company spokesperson Betty Ungerman was helping kids pick out the right size and their favorite colors.

Lennox worked with the non-profit Operation Warm to find schools with a lot of kids from low-income families. Operation Warm's Nary Silverio says the coats will keep kids warm, but they can also give kids more confidence in the classroom.

Lennox is giving away coats at other schools in Richardson this week as well as in Carrollton, where they've got a research center. They will also distribute coats at schools in Iowa and South Carolina, where they've also got factories.
