The two juveniles arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of a security guard at a CVS Pharmacy in downtown Dallas on Friday are 13 and 15 years old, police say.
The teens were arrested within 24 hours and face capital murder charges. This incident has sparked renewed concerns about safety in the downtown area.
In response, a community safety meeting was held last night, where residents voiced their fears and frustrations.
Interim Dallas Police Chief Michael Igo addressed the crowd, acknowledging the rise in violent crime and outlining new measures to enhance security.
The meeting, hosted by Downtown Dallas Inc., emphasized the need for a greater police presence and more effective crime prevention strategies.
The victim, identified as 39-year-old Anthony Egeonu, was attempting to stop two juveniles from shoplifting when one of them opened fire.
As the community mourns the loss of Egeonu, efforts to improve safety and prevent such tragedies continue.
