The Tarrant Area Food Bank will be hold its final two "Mega Mobile Markets" of 2020 today and tomorrow.
Those drive-through events allow families to receive up to 100 pounds of fresh food. CEO Julie Butner says their demand has been up by about 50 percent during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This is really directly correlated to the loss of jobs in the hospitality industry and the retail industry and the restaurant industries," said Butner to NBCDFW.com
It is an increase Butner fears will increase in 2021.
"We're anticipating that after the first of the year we may see some additional increases as a result of further job loss," she said. "A lot of employers don't lay off before the holiday. They wait until the holiday is over to lay off."
Today's event will be at Harvesting In Mansfield on 6th Avenue at 9:00 am.
Friday they will be at Herman Clark Stadium in Fort Worth from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
