A 37-year-old inmate died Tuesday after he was found unresponsive inside his cell at the Tarrant County Jail, officials said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was booked Monday on a charge of burglary of a building.
A detention officer found him unresponsive around 11:05 a.m. and attempted life-saving measures. He was taken to JPS Hospital, where he later died.
Multiple agencies will investigate the death, including the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office jail staff and Criminal Investigations Division, an outside law enforcement agency, JPS medical staff, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
The medical examiner will determine the man’s cause of death and release his identity.
