A Tarrant County inmate died in custody over the weekend after suffering a medical emergency, officials say.

Mason Yancy, 31, was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts, according to a statement from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Yancy was arrested last week by Grapevine police on drug charges and transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. Authorities said he disclosed a history of medical issues during the booking process.

The sheriff’s office said no further details were available, and the case remains under investigation.
