A Tarrant County man died Monday after being attacked by three dogs that entered his backyard while he was doing yardwork, according to the sheriff's office. The victim, identified as 82-year-old Ronald Grant Anderson, managed to make it back inside his home before collapsing. He was pronounced dead just before 4:30 p.m.
Investigators say the dogs came through a hole in the fence and are believed to belong to a neighbor. Animal control officers have taken all three dogs into custody while the investigation continues.
Authorities say Anderson suffered multiple bite wounds. The Tarrant County medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Neighbors say they are heartbroken and shaken, and officials are urging pet owners to secure their animals and check fencing to prevent future tragedies.
