Television powerhouse Taylor Sheridan, creator of the hit series Yellowstone, has signed a deal worth more than $1 billion with NBCUniversal, marking a major shift from his longtime home at Paramount, according to multiple people familiar with the agreement.

The deal, which includes both film and television components, will begin in 2026 and span eight years. The television portion is set to take effect at the end of 2028.

Sheridan is leaving Paramount after several years of partnership, during which he built a sprawling television universe that includes Yellowstone and its spinoffs along with Landman, Special Ops: Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King. His work has helped shape Paramount’s television identity and driven major streaming success for Paramount+.

NBCUniversal Chairman Donna Langley reportedly made multiple trips to Sheridan’s base in Weatherford, Texas, over recent months to court the prolific creator, an individual familiar with the negotiations said.

A spokesperson for NBCUniversal declined to comment on the deal.
