New details have emerged regarding the locker-room altercation that led Texas Christian University to dismiss safety Jacob Fields from its football team earlier this month.

According to police, Fields allegedly punched and kicked wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma during an Aug. 13 incident inside the team facilities. Ezukanma suffered a brain bleed, a concussion, and a shoulder injury, requiring a three-day hospital stay, an arrest affidavit stated.

Investigators revealed that Fields later sent text messages to Ezukanma expressing regret over the assault and offering to pay his medical expenses.

TCU dismissed Fields from the football program on Aug. 18. Over the weekend, Fields turned himself in to authorities on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He has since been released after posting a $50,000 bond.
