BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The TCU Horned Frogs saw their magical season come to an end Monday night, falling to the Texas Longhorns 58-47 in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

A Hard-Fought Battle

TCU entered the matchup riding a program-best 34-3 record, but Texas’ defensive pressure proved too much for the Horned Frogs. The Longhorns forced 21 turnovers, limiting TCU’s offensive rhythm throughout the game. Despite the struggles, TCU kept the contest close, trailing by just one point (32-31) late in the third quarter. However, Texas responded with a 10-2 run, pulling ahead for good.

Key Performances

Texas star Madison Booker led the charge with 18 points and six rebounds, while Rori Harmon added 12 points and five assists. For TCU, Hailey Van Lith fought hard, finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds, but the Horned Frogs struggled to convert opportunities, shooting just 26.7% from the field.

Emotional Locker Room Moments

Despite the loss, the Horned Frogs celebrated their historic season in the locker room, with players doing cartwheels and sharing emotional reflections on their journey. Graduate guard Maddie Scherr emphasized the team’s sisterhood, saying, “We truly, truly are a family.” Head coach Mark Campbell praised his squad’s resilience, calling their bond “the heart of this team.”

Looking Ahead

TCU’s Elite Eight appearance marks a turning point for the program, which had never advanced this far in the tournament before. With several key players graduating, the Horned Frogs will look to rebuild while maintaining the culture of success they established this season.

Texas now advances to the Final Four, where they will face South Carolina in Tampa.
