More North Texas teachers are under investigation in connection to a statewide teacher certification exam cheating scandal, the Texas Education Agency says.
The probe, which began last year, initially focused on Houston-area educators suspected of paying someone else to take their certification exams. However, the investigation has since expanded to include teachers in Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, and Duncanville.
Authorities have identified alleged ringleaders of the scheme, who are now facing criminal charges. The TEA has not disclosed how many North Texas teachers are currently under investigation or what consequences they may face if found guilty of wrongdoing.
