Arlington Teacher says she was forced to resign to protect family from coronavirus

An Arlington teacher is reportedly out of a job this morning and she says she was forced to resign to protect her family from the coronavirus.

For more than four years, Michelle Nogle has taught history at Arlington Seguin High School. But she has now resigned, saying the school was forcing her to teach on-campus and refused her request to teach online.

Nogle tells the Star-Telegram she lives with her elderly parents, her father being 71-years-old, and she fears she will bring the Coronavirus home from school.

Nogle says she sought permission to teach virtually but that was turned down. She supplied e-mails from Seguin's principal saying some of her comments are "inaccurate or factually unsupported."

She says he was told she could take an extended unpaid leave of absence or take leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) but her case is not eligible.

A petition drive 'Bring Back Ms. Nogle' has about 600 signatures.
