Teen Difference Maker Warming Hearts and Feet

It started with a pair of socks. Now one North Texas teen has gifted tens of thousands of socks to those who need it most. She's this week's KRLD Difference Maker.

Fifteen year-old sophomore Emily West has a sweet voice and a big heart.

On a choir trip to San Antonio in 2017, she noticed that homelessness was a huge problem and wanted to do something about it.

She began brainstorming with her family about what she could do to help.

“We found out socks were the most needed item at homeless shelter. Not only did I want to provide something that these homeless people needed physically, but also spiritually, which is the gospel,” Emily said.

That's how Gospel Socks got started.  Four years later [gospelsocks.com]Gospel Socks has donated more than 91,000 pairs socks to thousands of people with the help of people like Kent Richardson, who, as a ride share driver, gives them away every day.

“It feels good to help your fellow man,” Kent said.

We're proud to call Emily west and Gospel Socks this week’s KRLD Difference Makers.
