Turns out the teenage girl who this week led Smith County deputies on a chase that ended with a crash is from Grand Prairie.
Tuesday morning, a pick-up ran a red light in Tyler and a deputy tried to pull the driver over. But the pick-up sped off, running more red lights along the way and eventually turning the wrong-way on a one-way street before crashing into a sign.
The driver turned out to be a 16-year-old girl and deputies learned she lives in Grand Prairie. She had apparently sneaked out of her home to visit a boy in Tyler.
The girl was taken to a juvenile detention center in Smith County and booked on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle. They also called her parents.
