MILANO CORTINA, Italy — A small but notable group of athletes from Texas are confirmed to be part of the U.S. delegation competing in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, set to begin Feb. 6 in Milano Cortina, Italy.
Among the Lone Star State’s representatives are figure skaters Emily Chan of Pasadena and Amber Glenn of Plano, ice hockey player Hannah Bilka from Coppell, and former Texas A&M football standout Boone Niederhofer, who will compete in four-man bobsled for Team USA.
The Winter Olympics, which run through Feb. 22, bring together more than 200 American athletes across multiple sports.
Chan and Glenn are both making their first Olympic appearances in figure skating events, having qualified through strong performances at national and international competitions.
Bilka earned her spot after a standout college and club hockey career, including a national championship, and will join the U.S. women’s hockey team in pursuit of Olympic success.
Niederhofer transitioned from collegiate football to bobsled, earning a place on the four-man sled after success in international competition.
The presence of Texas athletes in winter sports — traditionally dominated by athletes from colder climates — highlights the state’s expanding footprint in disciplines beyond its more familiar football and track and field heritage. Their participation also connects local communities to the global celebration of athletic achievement as the Olympics unfold.
