The Texas Department of Public Safety is honoring over 2,100 veterans working for the department.

Nearly all branches of the U.S. Military are represented in the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Over 900 Army veterans, about 500 Marine Corps veterans, over 200 Navy veterans, and nearly 200 Air Force veterans work for DPS.

There are a number of others represented from Army Reserve to Texas State Guard and Air National Guard.  The U.S. Space Force is not represented.

"To every veteran or active-duty service member considering their next chapter, I encourage you to look at the Texas Department of Public Safety," said Chief of the Training Operations Division Derek Prestridge.

"Our veterans exemplify the very best of our department and our state," said DPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin. "They have answered the call to serve -- first in defense of our nation and now in the protection of our communities."
