Texas is establishing how it will distribute a coronavirus vaccine or vaccines, whenever one may be ready.
They are asking all Texas health care providers to sign up at the Texas Department of State Health Service's website so they'll be eligible to receive the vaccine.
All vaccines would be funned to the states from the federal government.
The Texas health department's Chris Van Deusen says initially there will be a limited supply, as to who will get the shot first "we will look at the critical populations who most need to get it. People like health care workers, those who are at a much greater of complications if they get Covid-19, other essential workers."
The list residents of nursing home, assisted living centers or independent living facilities, rural Texans, homeless Texans, people with disabilities and those who are uninsured.
Some vaccines in late testing must be stored well below zero and that presents challenges. Van Deusen says the manufacturers would send those out in special coolers.
