With the first special session quickly coming to an end, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is already calling for a second special legislative session.
Governor Abbott announced the second session will start at noon on August 7th - this Saturday.
The first special session began on July 8, but because the Texas House democrats fled the state, and a quorum was never archived, all of the bills waiting on votes in the House were not able to get passed.
Texas Democrats were at odds with thier GOP counterparts over the controversial elections integrity bill, which once again will be on the agenda in this second session.
SMU political science professor Cal Jillson says its not likely the democrats will be able to stay away for another month, so the republicans hold all the cards.
The first special session featured 11 items, this upcoming seasson features 17 bills, including considering changes to the quorum rules.
Jillson says a third session will be called most likely in October to deal with redistricting.
