Texas House in play for the first time in nearly two decades

The Texas House is in play for the first time in nearly two decades and there's tighter-than-usual competition for multiple congressional seats in historically red districts.

University of Houston Politicial Science Professor Brandon Rottinghaus says Democrats have a good chance of gaining control.

"This is an election where you've got a significant amount of organizing on the ground from Democrats and you've got really strong candidates running up and down the ballot in all the districts across the state, and you've got the money - that's been the difference maker for Texas democrats" says Rottinghaus.

Democrats will have to hold onto 12 state House seats they picked up in the last election and will need to gain nine more seats this time around to take control.
