One of the men condemned for the 1999 murder of an Iowa couple in Killeen has now gone to his own death.
Former street-gang member Brandon Bernard was executed last night at the federal penitentiary in Terra Haute, Indiana.
Bernard was sentenced to death for his part in the fiery death of Todd and Stacie Bagley who were Christian youth ministers visiting friends near Fort Hood when they were abducted, robbed and murdered.
Stacie Bagley was still alive when their bodies were set on fire.
Testimony showed that Bernard was the individual who doused their car with lighter fluid while the Bagleys were locked in the trunk.
In his final words Bernard apologized to families and told them he wished he could take it back.
A mother of one of the victims spoke after the execution, saying the apology and remorse shown helped her to forgive them.
