The Texas Medical Board meets today and will try to clarify what qualifies as a medical exception to the state’s restrictive abortion law.
According to the board's agenda, it will consider and take "possible action on rules regarding exceptions to the ban on abortions."
The meeting is happening after two high-profile lawsuits highlighted stories of Texas women who had life-threatening pregnancy complications but were denied access to abortions.
Both women were forced to go out of state to get the medical care they needed.
