The Texas Rangers have been asked to investigate yesterday's fatal officer-involved shooting in Mckinney which started out as a call about a suicidal man.
McKinney police department spokesperson Carla Marion Reeves says officers spent nearly an hour trying to talk the man into coming outside of the home located in the 4900 block of Redwood Drive to talk about his issues.
Instead, when he finally emerged from the home nearly an hour later, he aimed a shotgun at the police who opened fire in self-defense.
The man was killed at the scene. He name has not yet been revealed.
McKinney Police call this a "tragedy for everyone involved" and says "our hearts do go out to the family."
