The Texas Stock Exchange is one significant hurdle closer to getting a ticker across their headquarters.
Developers explained to the Dallas Plan Commission that they want the ticker as it clearly represents the exchange to people on the outside.
"These digitally-branding moments will become visual reinforcements of Dallas' identity in a recognized financial hub," a representative of the exchange told the Dallas Plan Commission. "We received overwhelming community support from Klyde Warren Park, Downtown Dallas, abutting property owners and neighboring property owners as well."
Not everyone who spoke before the Commission this week were in favor. One in opposition is the neighbor across the street.
"The sign will be, this is 23 yards away from my condominium, away from my window," Walter Levy said. "Obviously, this is going to drive me nuts."
The Commission approved the design which originally would not have been allowed under current rules in that area.
It would wrap around one corner of the newly-constructed building on the north end of Klyde Warren Park.
The City Council must approve the recommendation before it can go forward.
