You can tell 2020 is affecting our Christmas spirits this year. It's even hit the 12 Days of Christmas.
Every year, we get to find out how much it would cost to have all the gifts in the 12 Days of Christmas. It's a good indicator of how inflation is going.
This year, the bottom has dropped out of the cost, because you can't get some of the items, thanks to Coronavirus.
PNC Bank put out the list this year, as it always does. The total cost of Christmas this year is $16,168.14. That's down more than 58 percent compared to last year.
The Partridge in a Pear Tree is about the same as last year, about $210. The two turtle doves are about 50 percent more expensive at $450 .
The Three French Hens and Five Gold Rings are each about 15 percent higher. The Swans and Calling Birds are about the same. It's when you get to the later days where there's trouble. The Nine Ladies aren't dancing, the 10 Lords aren't leaping, the 11 Pipers aren't piping, and 12 Drummers aren't available to drum, because of COVID.
