What's bigger than a Metroplex? We might need to get used to calling North Texas a Megaplex.
A company called Move Buddha is making a pretty bold prediction. It says the Dallas - Fort Worth area will be the biggest metropolitan area in the country, by the year 2100.
Move Buddha looked at trends in migration. It says Texas will have the top three most populated areas in the country. Dallas Fort Worth could jump from it's current population of 7.7 million up to just under 34 million within 70 years.
DFW would also turn into the one place where people move to to get away from rising tides, based on extreme global warming trends that show rising sea levals.
But, on the other hand, Dallas could see 130 days a year where the temperature jumps to 95 degrees or higher.
Overall, the predictions say Houston could jump to 31.3 million people at the start of the 22nd century, up from 7.2 million. Austin would hit 22 million, up from 2.3 million in that same time.
New York City would drop to 5th, Atlanta 6th, and Los Angeles 7th in terms of population rankings.
