Grand Prairie (1080 KRLD)- The Theatre at Grand Prairie has a new name. Texas Trust Credit Union has reached an agreement for the naming rights, so the building is now the Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie. The concert venue had been known as the Verizon Theater until the company allowed its naming rights to expire in 2018.
The sign displaying the new name of the facility will be visible from I-30. The venue is owned by the City of Grand Prairie and operated by AEG Presents. It opened in 2002 and has hosted hundreds of concerts and corporate events. Many of the shows originally scheduled for 2020 were cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19.
Increasing vaccination rates and decreasing COVID-19 infections have prompted many musicians and bands to resume touring. The Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie has several events on its schedule starting in June, including the Lost 80's Live 2021 show on August 21st presented by 100.3 Jack FM.
Texas Trust Credit Union has two branches in Grand Prairie and plans to open a third location in the city later this year.
“This partnership allows Texas Trust to reinforce our commitment to the city and support a world-class venue that will offer high-quality entertainment while also providing substantial economic benefits to the city,” said Jim Minge, CEO of Texas Trust Credit Union.
