At least three people are locked up in Mesquite where gunfire erupted in the parking lot of Town East Mall yesterday.
A fairly normal afternoon turned to panic as mall customers ducked for cover behind cars as the bullets flew.
Police determined at least two people were shooting at one another but so far investigators have not said why. There were cars pock-marked by bullets but amazingly no one was wounded.
Mesquite officers were already at the mall for another investigation when they heard the gunfire. Running to the sound of the gunshots, they quickly arrested two men and a woman and confiscated at least two firearms, a pistol and a rifle.
The violence was all outside and the mall itself was not closed down.
