Three children are dead and a fourth child and an adult are in critical condition after a house fire early Wednesday in Van Zandt County.
The fire was reported shortly after 12:30 a.m. near County Roads 4127 and 4128, with people trapped inside.
Fire officials say three people escaped, but four children remained inside. Firefighters had to break through an exterior wall to reach them.
The victims were two boys, ages 8 and 5, and a 3-year-old girl. A 10-year-old boy and an adult were flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.
Two other people were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
