In Dallas County Court testimony is to begin today in a murder trial with connections to royalty in Great Britain.

James Patrick is accused of murder in the September 2023 death of his wife, Jenean Chapman. She was found dead in her downtown Dallas apartment just days after telling her employer she needed a day off because of a domestic issue.

He was arrested in Austin after telling doctors at a hospital he had injured himself in a fight with his wife.

Her sister, Nichole, told our partner station NBC 5 Patrick and Chapman had only been married for a couple months and it had been a rocky marriage from the start.

Years ago Chapman had worked as a personal assistant for Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, who made mention of the death when it happened.
