The IV bag tampering trial of former Richardson anesthesiologist Raynaldo Ortiz picks up again this morning after three days off.
The Government still has a couple of witnesses to call, but for the most part, its case has been presented and federal prosecutors are expected to rest. Then the case shifts to the defense.
The jury has already heard from victims of the poisoned IV bags, and from the widower of another doctor who died while using one of the bags to rehydrate herself.
It has seen video of Ortiz handling both syringes that prosecutors say he filled, and IV bags that went into a special warming device that other doctors used.
But the defense says for all the circumstantial evidence, the Government has not connected the dots, and has not proven that Ortiz did anything wrong.
