Federal prosecutors say Guy Reffitt is accused of bringing a handgun onto the US Capitol grounds and with trying to disrupt the electoral college certification. Reffitt denies it.

It's the contention of federal prosecutors that Reffitt intended to get to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and then Senate-majority leader Mitch McConnell and force both to leave the capitol.

They further say when Reffitt returned to Wylie he threatened family members if they cooperated with investigators.

Included in the court file is a letter Reffitt wrote to the judge claiming the prosecution is all based on a lie, that there was no insurrection and no conspiracy.

This is the first case involving someone accused in the US Capitol riot to go to trial.
