Two people were found dead following a more than six hour SWAT standoff in central Austin Tuesday night.

Austin Police said the original 911 call came in around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, reporting a disturbance at a doctors office called The Children's Medical Group in the 1900 block of West 35th Street, near Jackson Avenue and just east of MoPac.

Throughout the ordeal, a hostage negotiator was repeatedly heard pleading over a bullhorn, at one point saying to the gunman "we know you have a lot going on in your life. We know you have been helping children your whole life." Another time, she said: "you have saved a lot of lives." But hostage-taker never responded.

Police said that one of the deceased was originally in the building, while another was not. Few other details were immediately available, with homicide detectives beginning to comb the scene for evidence.

A few nearby homes were evacuated during the standoff, police said.
